Southern Bakersfield Homes and Property
Unlike the southwest and southeast areas of Bakersville, most of the property you'll find in Southern Bakersfield is undeveloped, farmland, and acreage. If you're looking to buy a home for zero down or using USDA financing, this may be the perfect place to look. This section is bordered on the north by Houghton Rd, and to the east by Fairfax Rd, which continues south in an imaginary line to the point where it reaches the west border of Highway 5. There is no southern border, as Highway 5 intersects the east border diagonally.
Homes in South Bakersfield
There are a few. Most of the south end homes will be farm houses, lots of acreage, big yards, plenty of privacy. They will tend to be somewhat spread out and are typically situated on multi acre parcels… rural area homes and farmland. Typically the houses are larger, often in the 2000-3000 sq ft range as well.

This is the area for obtaining US Dept of Agriculture financing for raw land, farmland, acreage, and dairy farm property in Bakersfield. Land may be zoned for horses or livestock. There's also some newly developed homesites with acreage in the Rollin Brown project, and the occasional property zoned as commercial.
