Homes for Sale in Southeastern Bakersfield

The Southeast area of Bakersfield is primarily farm land and homes with acreage. According to the Bakersfield MLS, southeastern Bakersfield is everything east of Union Avenue that is south of Edison Highway, but most everyone assumes that the Southeast starts at Highway 99. So to prevent any confusion, we have set up the Southeast search to pull everything east of the 99 Highway.

On the west, Highway 99 is the border. To the south it runs along Houghton Rd to Weedpatch Hwy and Panama Rd. The northern border of Edison Highway runs west to Union Avenue where it then follows Union down to Brundage Lane and connects back to Highway 99.

This Southeast area is mostly made up of larger parcels of land for use in farming or zoned for animals, but there are a number of smaller tract home communities in this area. Some of the home communities of interest include the new homes in Berkshire Place, as well as Lennox Homes in Sydney Harbour and Bright Design Homes by Froelich.  Property in the Southeast is probably the most rural of all Bakersfield homes, and is inexpensive, often used for raising livestock or businesses. You'll find tract homes, small ranches, and the occasional expensive home with lots of acreage.  This is a great area for the beginner home buyer looking for a low priced home.

You won't find condos or much in the way of rental income property in the Southeast, however there are six parks, and the Bakersfield Municipal Airport is located here. There's a fun restaurant in the airport called the Rocket Shop Cafe that people enjoy.
